Acres – Made In The Midlands and Backing Britain

27th August 2020

It has been a big week for the Backing Britain campaign, led by the fantastic team at Made In The Midlands.

Launched in 2009, Made in Group is a private manufacturing network for the UK, which now contains 600 UK manufacturers ranging from the likes of Jaguar Land Rover, Liberty, Atlas Copco, Moog, Mazak, Siemens, Fanuc and of course, Acres Engineering.

Their aim is to promote, inspire and share best practice within UK manufacturing and they have been doing just that with the fantastic Backing Britain 2020 Live event, which is running from the 17th to 28th August.

The Acres team have been watching throughout and we were hugely proud yesterday (20th August) when our work with Mclaren Automotive to provide stillages for their incredible ‘Speed Trail’ supercar project was mentioned by Andrew Boothroyd, Head of Logistics Engineering and Future Solutions.

Andrew was delivering the keynote on Day 4, outlining how the car giant is backing Britain, in which he also covered their crucial work on the NHS’s central ventilator challenge before turning to Acres.

“Acres are a Tier 1 supplier to Mclaren, but beyond that, they are a partner to our ongoing development and success.”

“Together we have created modular solutions that reduce the risk of damage, help to eliminate waste and designs that make them more sustainable and cost-effective.”

It was quite the testimony and one that we are very grateful and humbled by.

The Acres team are all so proud of our partnership and of Andrew’s kind words on this global stage and equally proud to hear about the many other Midlands manufacturers who are working on the Ventilator Challenge.

You can read more about that and hear Andrew’s keynote speech here.
