Bicester’s Transense Technologies to develop aircraft landing gear with Airbus

8th May 2024

Oxfordshire-based Transense Technologies has officially joined the LANDOne project with Airbus to support the development of next generation landing systems technology.

LANDOne is a £37.8 million project to design lighter, lower maintenance landing gear systems.

Launched in 2022, it’s now set to benefit from Transense’s SAWsense technology for measuring torque, force, pressure and temperature.

Ryan Maughan, managing director of Transense, said: “We’re delighted to announce this new project with Airbus, building on our experience in the aerospace sector and using SAWsense technology in an entirely new application for landing systems.

“As well as developing cutting edge technology in this exciting application, the project allows Transense to build a relationship with world leading aerospace businesses.”

The LANDOne project is part-funded by the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) Programme – a partnership between the ATI, the government’s Department for Business and Trade, and Innovate UK (part of UK Research and Innovation).

The programme provides funding for research and technology projects that maintain and grow the UK’s competitive position in civil aerospace.
