VOTE SET ON JOB-CREATING EXPANSION PLANS

6th January 2021

A total of 170 new jobs would be created if plans to expand a base used by a temperature-controlled logistics provider and frozen food distributor in Nottinghamshire are approved next week.

Yearsley Group, which is part of Lineage Logistics, is seeking to build an extension to its site at Belle Eau Park, Bilsthorpe, and increasing the number of employees from 170 to 330.

The project to extend to the existing warehouse/ distribution centre would also include a rise in car parking spaces from 156 to 288.

Yearsley Group has been operating at Bilsthorpe since 2008.

Newark and Sherwood District Council’s planning committee is set to make a final decision on the application at a virtual meeting on Tuesday 12 January.

Planning officers have recommended that councillors vote through the proposals.

A council document published ahead of the meeting said: “The proposal represents the expansion of a well-established business in the district and would amount to an additional 170 new jobs which is significant in the context of the site.

“The economic benefits of the proposal must be afforded significant positive weight in line with national policy and Core Policy 6.”
