A Christmas Commitment to Community & Heritage
This Christmas, Acres Engineering is proud to share that we’ve agreed our next CSR project – this time in partnership with Melbourne COE Church, which is celebrating a remarkable 900-year anniversary in 2025.
We recently had a hugely positive and inspiring meeting with Rev. Rosemary Donovan and Griselda Kerr from The Dower House, Melbourne. The conversation was full of creative ideas, shared enthusiasm, and a genuine sense of collaboration, reinforcing just how special this milestone year is for the church and the wider Melbourne community.
The discussions have set us firmly on course for an exciting Q1 project with the church to build and replace the aging wooden sign, and we’re looking forward to turning ideas into action. Supporting local heritage, community institutions, and projects with lasting impact is central to our People First approach – and this partnership aligns perfectly with that ethos.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to play a small part in supporting an institution that has been at the heart of Melbourne for nine centuries. More details to follow in the New Year.
⛪ 900 Years at the Heart of Melbourne
Melbourne COE Church has stood at the centre of the village for nearly nine centuries, with origins dating back to the early 12th century. Through wars, reformations, industrial change, and generations of local life, the church has remained a constant presence—both as a place of worship and as a focal point for the community.
Over the centuries, the church has evolved alongside Melbourne itself, witnessing countless baptisms, weddings, and commemorations, while continuing to serve as a place of reflection, support, and gathering. Reaching a 900-year milestone is a rare and remarkable achievement, representing not just the longevity of a building, but the strength, continuity, and resilience of a community that has cared for it across generations.
The 900th anniversary celebrations provide a unique opportunity to honour this heritage, preserve it for the future, and ensure the church continues to play an active role in village life for centuries to come.
