Acres Engineering goes back to School before it’s out for the Summer!
Earlier this week, HR Manager and Marketing Representative, Alice and Deanna took a guided tour of Ashby School. The visit was hosted by Design & Technology Teacher, Ed Cooper. In 2020, Ed was nominated for a Local Hero Award.
Throughout the visit, Ed discussed how Schools have been facing financial challenges since Covid-19. Alice suggested that Acres Engineering could potentially assist by giving sheet metal off-cuts that would usually be scrapped. These could then be cut to size and re-purposed as pieces of material for the students to use in their projects.
Both Alice and Deanna were amazed by the School’s commitment to providing students with vast levels of knowledge and skill in machinery, woodwork and much more.
The visit comes after, Ashby School confirmed their involvement with our National Manufacturing Open Day on the 26th of September. Creating the opportunity for their Sixth Formers studying Engineering, to gain firsthand insight into Apprenticeships and careers.
Our event will see local Schools including The Pingle Academy, bring students for an eye-opening experience to the reality of modern British Manufacturing. Plans are arranged to visit Chellaston Academy before the Summer Break. With the ambition to drive more students into manufacturing, we aim by opening our doors, we can inspire both girls and boys to be interested in an exhilarating vocation.
