Acres strikes gold at Regional manufacturing awards!
The awards, organised by Make UK, the organisation which represents manufacturing industry across the UK, were held to recognise the achievements of companies from across the Midlands. With the winners going on to the National Finals which will be held in London in January 2026.
Acres Engineering was given the Make UK Midlands & East Manufacturing Impact Award which recognises the contribution a company makes to its local community. We received the award in recognition of our attitude as not just a company that makes things but one which presents life changing opportunities and development.
As our company has developed we have made a point of taking on apprentices not only from engineering colleges, but from schools, sixth forms, and alternative educational routes, including learners with limited qualifications, learning difficulties, or challenging personal circumstances.
We also received Runner up in the Developing Future Talent category
Over time, this model has been expanded to include internships, work experience schemes, career retraining opportunities for adults, and support for veterans and reservists. The company became a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant and is a recipient of an Armed Forces Gold Award, built partnerships with local schools and training providers, and introduced a People First Pledge, which formalised a commitment to removing barriers and creating high quality opportunities for underrepresented individuals.
Professor David Greenwood, CEO of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult at WMG, and Director for Industrial Engagement, Warwick Manufacturing Group said:
“WMG is proud to be hosting and sponsoring Make UK’s Manufacturing Awards for the Midlands and East. The awards bring together innovators and leaders from across the region to celebrate excellence in manufacturing. It’s fitting for WMG to host the event at the University of Warwick, reflecting our commitment to championing manufacturing and shining a spotlight on the innovation and progress driving the industry forward. These awards also come at a pivotal time, as the renewed focus on the UK’s Industrial Strategy presents significant opportunities to strengthen regional productivity, accelerate innovation, and build a globally competitive manufacturing base.”
Chris Corkan, Region Director for Make UK in the Midlands, said:
“These awards are a testament to the dynamic companies and individuals working within engineering and manufacturing. The sector remains at the heart of creating wealth in the Midlands and as we grow our economy there will be a bright future for companies and individuals that make the most of their talent.”
