Flash to the Past: Acres Engineering Pay a Visit to Chellaston Academy

18th July 2023

Before the final School bell rings, announcing the start of the Summer break. Former student, now Marketing Apprentice Deanna & Account Manager Nick, dropped by Chellaston Academy. During the visit, they received a warm welcome from the Head of Department for Design & Technology, Wendy Allen.

Throughout their time at Chellaston, Wendy discussed how the School is undergoing refurbishment. The Design & Technology department is in the process of being renovated; allowing the Food Tech classroom to be closer to Technology altogether.

Deanna and Nick also learnt about a new Engineering programme that has opened for students. The programme offers a Level 2 Technical Award; giving the students the opportunity to use machinery and CAD. Volume for the Engineering course has grown, with a total of 6 classes from September.

Due to the refurbishment, the corridors will maximize space to display a Rolls-Royce Engine. This news excited the teachers after, the engine had been located in a narrow hallway for more than 2 decades, with no clear visibility for Students.
