Congratulations to Our Managing Director, Luke Parker

We are pleased to share some exciting news from Acres Engineering Ltd! Our Managing Director, Luke Parker, has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Derbyshire. This role is a recognition of his dedication, leadership, and contributions to both the business community and the wider region.

The position of Deputy Lieutenant is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated service and commitment to their local area. As a Deputy Lieutenant, Luke will support the Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire in various ceremonial, civic, and voluntary duties, helping to promote community initiatives and encourage civic pride throughout the county. This includes attending official events, supporting community groups, and representing the Lieutenancy at key occasions.

Luke’s appointment reflects his passion for fostering innovation and excellence, not only within Acres Engineering but also in the wider industrial and engineering sectors. Under his leadership, our company has continued to grow, pushing the boundaries of engineering excellence and maintaining a strong commitment to supporting local businesses, charities, and community projects. His involvement in numerous industry initiatives, mentorship programs, and collaborations with local educational institutions demonstrates his commitment to developing the next generation of engineering talent.

Beyond his contributions to Acres Engineering, Luke has been an advocate for the growth of regional industries, encouraging innovation, sustainability, and skills development. “I am exceptionally proud to announce that I have been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Derbyshire by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, on behalf of His Royal Highness King Charles III. It is an incredible honour, and I look forward to working across Derbyshire, supporting our outstanding charities and organisations, and championing our remarkable region.

Derbyshire boasts an inspiring past and a rich history of innovation, particularly in engineering, textiles, and aviation. Pioneers like Arkwright and Strutt shaped the Industrial Revolution, while Stephenson and Whittle revolutionised transportation and aviation. Scientists like Flamsteed and Whitehurst advanced astronomy and geology, while Herbert Akroyd Stuart played a key role in the development of internal combustion engines. Many of these inventions had lasting global impacts, with Derbyshire playing a central role in their success. This legacy is remembered with places such as the Museum of Making and Cromford Mills which not only remind us of the past but inspire our future generations.

Manufacturing is still the largest sector in Derbyshire, and I believe Derbyshire has an exciting future ahead. I am thrilled to join a committed and driven group of people dedicated to ensuring Derbyshire continues to thrive as a fantastic place to live, work, learn and grow.
