Armed Forces Day talk about becoming a Reservist

26th June 2024

Captain Tim Illsley has visit Acres Engineering to talk about becoming a Reservist in the Royal Engineers.

The Army’s Royal Engineers Reservists are part-time soldiers who serve in the Royal Engineers while maintaining civilian careers. These Reservists perform many of the same roles as their full-time counterparts, providing essential engineering support and technical expertise to the British Army. The Royal Engineers (RE), also known as the “Sappers,” are a corps of the British Army that provide military engineering and other technical support to the British Armed Forces. Their role is crucial in enabling the mobility of friendly forces while impeding that of the enemy. The Royal Engineers are involved in a wide range of tasks, including construction, demolition, bridge-building, and bomb disposal, among others.

Captain Illsley gave an overview to Acres staff who showed interest in the possibility of becoming reservists.
