Presentation of Memorial Plaque to mark Merchant Navy Day
The presentation took place at St Wilfred’s church to celebrate National Merchant Navy Day. The service included a welcome from the Chairman of Ashfield District Council, Cllr. Arnie Hankin and a reading from the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Nick Rubins.
Acres Engineering are exceptionally proud to be commissioned by the Merchant Navy Association – Mansfield & Ashfield Branch to design and manufacture a Memorial Plaque.
Alongside the design and manufacture, representatives from Acres were also invited to attend the presentation of the plaque to Ashfield District Council. The memorial plaque was designed with the support of Carol Maddison Edwina Morris and a committee of dedicated individuals. Once finalised, the design was manufactured at Acres Engineering using laser cutting machines, powder coating and a final assembly process.

Luke Parker presented the plaque to the chairman of the Mansfield & Ashfield Branch, Charles Hill who intern presented the plaque to Cllr. Arnie Hankin.
National Merchant Navy Day is a day honouring the vital role of the merchant navy in global trade and national security both in the past and present.
The Memorial plaque is destined for public display at Ashfield District Council building.

- Training and Careers: The Merchant Navy offers various career opportunities for those interested in maritime professions, including roles such as deck officers, engineers, and other crew members. Training institutions in the UK provide specialised education and certification for these roles.
