Derby College Employment & Skills Board
An insightful meeting discussing the new T levels and the opportunity’s for work experience placements along with contributing input into the skills requirements of the future.
Our Managing Director, Luke Parker, joined the board of advisors at Derby College to talk through the new and exciting opportunities for students. Chaired by Richard Standing from Rolls-Royce, positive and stimulating discussions were had around creating new prospects for students to thrive within the thriving industry such as new T levels and opportunities for work experience.
T Levels are new courses which follow GCSEs and are equivalent to 3 A levels. These 2-year courses, which launched September 2020, have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work, further training or study.
This is an important alternative route for those wanting to pursue a specialized subject that in a course holds the same weight as an A level. We see it essential to support our local college’s and universities in providing professional industry knowledge that will guide the courses and opportunities students are a part of.
