Happy Retirement to Andy after 56 years at Acres…

It’s not every day that your longest-serving employee retires! …Today, we gathered at lunch for a special reason: to celebrate the retirement of Andy Stevenson, who has dedicated 56 years to Acres. We marked this momentous occasion with tea, cake, and plenty of laughter, reminiscing over old photographs and sharing cherished stories…

Andy began his journey with Acres when he was 16 years old. Back then, the pay rate at Acres was £6 for a 40-hour week, and employees only had one week of holiday per year. How things have changed!

Andy represents a generation at Acres where drawings were mere rough sketches, and it was up to the individual to design the product as they went along, using whatever materials were available. This resourcefulness is evident at Willington, where Andy had one of the largest collections of nuts and bolts ever seen.

We will truly miss Andy, not just for his skills and work ethic, but for his presence here at Acres. Andy has informally coached numerous employees and many apprentices, helping to guide them as they develop their skills.

Well done Andy, we are immensely proud of your achievements and what you have done over the years at Acres. All the best, have a fantastic retirement!
