Heather Wheeler OBE MP Meets Father Christmas at Acres Engineering

Heather Wheeler, MP, visited Acres Engineering Ltd in Melbourne as part of her weekly ‘Jobs and Industry Dialogue Programme’.

During this extended visit she met with Managing Director, Luke Parker, and members of the workforce – including a many of the companies growing number of apprentices.

Mrs Wheeler noted that:  “The Company produces an expanding range of products, including a range of Battery Charging enabling equipment, industrial workstations and storage solutions to name but a few!  In addition, the company continues to grow its customer base which included lots of impressive companies”.

Mrs Wheeler was particularly impressed with the company’s local ethos and commitment to employing and supporting local apprentices. She commented “The company’s determination to expand their apprenticeship programme and provide an incredible support structure to ensure that they have a true opportunity to succeed and become proficient in a range of areas is truly impressive. It shows us that this company is both an ethical employer and forward thinking … as here Acres Engineering understand that need, more than ever, to increase the number of skilled workers within the UK “

Before leaving, after a round table discussion with regard to the government’s determination to support British business.  Mrs Wheeler thanked the company for its continued support for our armed forces – she noted “Acres Engineering’s support of our Armed Forces, both locally and nationally, again emphasises the good ethical basis upon which this business is based.   Support which has been gratefully recognised by their addition to the ‘Armed Forces Gold ‘employers recognition list”.

The round table discussion was disrupted by a surprise visit by Father Christmas! Hopefully he will help with Acres wish list.
