Reserves Day Celebration at Kingsway Army Reserve Centre

The Reserves Day Celebration at Kingsway Army Reserve Centre in Derby, held on June 19, 2024, was an event to honour and recognise the contributions of Army Reservists who balance their civilian lives with military careers. This celebration, part of Armed Forces Week, provided an opportunity for the public, families, and employers to engage with reservists and learn more about their roles and experiences.

The event was held at the new multi-million-pound vehicle workshop and training facility. This facility, part of the Ministry of Defence’s ‘Future Soldier’ program, aims to make the British Army more agile and integrated. It includes state-of-the-art equipment to support the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) and enhance their capabilities in equipment repair and recovery for various regiments across the British Army. The facility was recognised with a commendation in the Derby Civic Society’s ‘New Build’ category for 2024, highlighting its modern design and environmental sustainability features​ (East Midlands RFCA)​​ (East Midlands RFCA)​.

The celebration also featured networking opportunities, and was attended by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mrs. Elizabeth Fothergill CBE.
