Soaring to Success at Airbus Defence and Space!

Last week, we had the fantastic opportunity to attend an exclusive event at Airbus Defence and Space headquarters in Stevenage. The gathering brought together 30 SMEs from three prominent Space Clusters across the UK, fostering connections and industry insights.

Airbus Defence and Space is a global leader in aerospace innovation, providing cutting-edge solutions in space exploration, satellite communications, and defence technology. With operations spanning across Europe and beyond, the company plays a pivotal role in advancing space capabilities, from building advanced satellites to pioneering new defence systems. The Stevenage site is home to world-class manufacturing and research facilities, where groundbreaking projects such as the European Space Agency’s Mars Rover have been developed.

The day was designed to equip SMEs with essential knowledge on thriving in the space industry, including best practices for collaborating with a Prime (any Prime) and key considerations for successful partnerships. SMEs are instrumental in driving innovation, and this event provided a platform for businesses to explore potential collaborations with Airbus and other industry leaders.

After an enlightening tour of Airbus’ on-site facilities, we had the chance to deliver dynamic 90-second pitches, setting the stage for an engaging networking session with the Airbus team. The afternoon featured a series of insightful space talks, sparking conversations on the future of the sector and innovation in space technology.

The event was supported by three key UK space clusters:

• Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA) – A regional hub supporting aerospace businesses, helping SMEs integrate into larger supply chains and access new market opportunities.
• Space East – Focused on advancing the space industry in the East of England, Space East fosters innovation, research, and industry collaboration to support space-related enterprises.
• Space South Central – Covering the South of England, this cluster drives space sector growth by connecting businesses, universities, and government organisations.

These clusters play a crucial role in supporting the UK’s expanding space sector, helping businesses navigate the complexities of the industry while facilitating strategic partnerships.

Our expertise in designing and manufacturing high-quality engineering solutions enables Space and Defence companies to streamline production processes and enhance efficiency. Being part of this forum allowed us to showcase our capabilities, engage with potential partners, and explore new opportunities for innovation within the space industry.
