Strengthening Defence Partnerships: Attending the East Midlands Regional Engagement Event

On Thursday 12th June, Acres Engineering proudly represented at the East Midlands Regional Engagement (RED) Event, hosted by the East Midlands Reserve Forces & Cadets Association (RFCA) at the Trent Conference Centre in Nottingham.

This invitation-only event, led by Brigadier Stuart Williams OBE, brought together business leaders and advocates from across the region who are actively championing members of the Defence community through initiatives such as the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) and the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS).

With keynote presentations from respected speakers including Group Captain Simon Briggs, Assistant Head of Reserves Employer Engagement at the Ministry of Defence, the day offered insights into the evolving Defence landscape and the vital role that employers play in supporting serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and their families.
A powerful “State of the nation” address by Commodore Tim Green focused on innovation, while Mandy-Jayne Evans and Andy MacPherson from Toyota’s Armed Forces Support Network talked about the importance of supporting those who have served.

The agenda focused on “changes, challenges and opportunities”, providing a platform for open discussion and reflection ahead of Armed Forces Week. It also serves as an opportunity to share best practices, strengthen collaboration, and expand networks among like-minded employers committed to Defence values.

Our engagement with the AFC and DERS is a core part of our commitment to social responsibility and national resilience.
