Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire visits Acres Engineering

Today we were delighted to host the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Andrew Cochrane DL, at Acres Engineering. His visit provided a fantastic opportunity to showcase not only our in-house capabilities but also the culture and people that make Acres what it is.

Our discussions ranged from the future of drones and defence innovation to broader business strategy and the role SMEs play in driving growth and opportunity in the region. Andrew took a full tour of our facility, where he was particularly impressed by our turnkey manufacturing capabilities – from design and prototyping right through to fabrication, finishing, and final delivery.

A highlight of the visit was when Andrew met Finley, one of our apprentices, who proudly demonstrated the laser tube cutting machine. Finley explained how this technology streamlines production, improves precision, and adds value to our customers’ projects. This encounter underlined our commitment to apprenticeships and the next generation of engineering talent – a cornerstone of our People First Pledge.

Andrew’s interest in both our technical expertise and our company culture reaffirmed the importance of businesses like Acres in shaping the future of UK manufacturing.
