Why is the design of an access platform important?
At Acres we design and manufacture numerous types of access platforms.
For access platforms, the relevant British Standard is often governed by the BS EN (British Standard European Norm) series.
As of my last update, the following standards are relevant to access platforms:
- BS EN 280: Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP) – Design calculations – Stability criteria – Construction – Safety – Examinations and tests
- This standard pertains to mobile elevating work platforms, including design calculations, stability criteria, construction, safety requirements, examinations, and tests.
- BS EN 1495: Mast climbing work platforms – Hoists – Safety requirements
- This standard focuses on safety requirements for mast climbing work platforms, specifically addressing the hoists used in these platforms.
- BS EN 1808: Safety of mast climbing work platforms – Torsional strength test method
- This standard outlines the torsional strength test method for mast climbing work platforms, ensuring they meet safety requirements.
Please note that standards can be revised, updated, or new standards may be introduced after my last update. It’s essential to check the latest versions of these standards from the British Standards Institution or other authoritative sources for the most up-to-date information.
