Work Experience Students have an EGGcellent Time!

27th March 2024

Acres have had the delight of hosting Paige from The Pingle Academy and Shaun from Lees Brook Academy for their work experience placement. During their time at Acres they have had insight into various roles within the business and have spent time in both office and manufacturing environments.

Both Shaun and Paige really enjoyed their time at Acres, made even better by the gift of a chocolate egg to celebrate Easter!

Paige commented ‘I would like to do something within Engineering when I am older. Powder Coating and Welding look pretty cool and interesting. I’ve really enjoyed work experience at Acres, and I would love to come back again.

Shaun commented ‘Engineering is really interesting to me and seeing the processes and being apart of it has opened more opportunities. Welding has interested me the most and I have enjoyed my work experience at Acres.’

Work experience is a vital part of preparing students for leaving school, and gives them the opportunity to see what the life of work is like. Work experience delivers both tangible and intangible benefits for individuals such as:

  1. Skill Development: Practical experience helps in honing specific skills that are relevant to one’s field, which can include both hard skills like technical abilities and soft skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  2. Networking: Work experience provides opportunities to build professional connections that can be invaluable for future job searches, mentorships, and career guidance.
  3. Career Clarification: It allows individuals to explore different career paths and industries to better understand where their interests and strengths lie.
  4. Enhanced Employability: Candidates with relevant work experience are often more attractive to employers, as it indicates a level of practical knowledge and adaptability to workplace environments.
  5. Potential for Higher Earnings: Long-term, individuals with substantial work experience can command higher salaries due to their proven skills and expertise.
