BT to hire nearly 40 apprentices and graduates in Bristol
BT Group is planning to recruit nearly 40 apprentices and graduates in Bristol for its September 2024 intake, it has announced. The company will hire a total of 37 roles – 16 graduate positions and 21 apprenticeship jobs.
The news comes as the UK marks its 17th National Apprenticeship week, which is running until February 11.
The telecoms giant said it would recruit across areas including software engineering, customer service, applied research, data analytics and cyber security to support the UK’s fast-growing digital sectors.
The new roles will be based mainly at BT’s new state-of-the-art offices in Bristol. BT moved its staff into the vast new offices in Bristol city centre last year. Some 2,500 workers are now based at the multi-million pound Assembly building, part of the growing Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone next to Temple Meads Station.
The building opened officially in February 2023 as part of BT Group’s Better Workplace Programme.
Elaine Bergin, director of colleague experience at BT Group, said: “As one of the largest private sector employers of apprentices and graduates in the UK, we continue to recruit and attract brilliant people into our business, and we offer unparalleled opportunities to those who join us.
“As we build a better BT Group, we’re developing a pipeline of future talent to help grow our business, deliver great outcomes for our customers and to help underpin economic growth in the UK.”
BT has recruited more than 3,000 apprentices and graduates over the past five years. The company offers apprenticeships ranging from level two – the equivalent to GCSE standard – through to level seven, which is equivalent to a master’s degree.
