Virtual International Trade Roundtable

5th June 2020

Acres Engineering Managing Director Luke Parker attended a virtual International Trade Roundtable with Secretary of State, Rt. Hon. Liz Truss MP.

At Acres Engineering we are proud to hear that the Midlands is responsible for 25% of all UK international exports, and that the voice of the Midlands SME community will be heard when negotiating the future trade relationship with the US.

Did you know we currently export £8B of cars to the US? …or that the US trade agreement could lead to a £15B a year benefit? In these challenging times its excellent to hear of exciting opportunities!

It’s great to hear that there will be a SME chapter in the agreement, and at Acres Engineering we are looking forward to hearing more about the Export and New Investment Strategies. SME’s are certainly being recognised and prioritised. There is clearly a huge focus on the negotiations, not purely on tariff reductions but simplifying processes to maximise trade opportunities.

Watch out for the up and coming ETAGs webinars!

Excellent continuation from last week’s virtual meeting this afternoon with Crawford Falconer, UK Chief Trade Negotiation Advisor, on U.S.-UK Trade Talks with the National Association of Manufacturers – NAM (https://www.linkedin.com/posts/luke-parker-2aa08740_usa-tradetalks-manufacturing-activity-6669627988402806784-i7TN)

Well done Midlands Engine & Make UK.
