Acres Engineering Become Approved Supplier to MAG East Midlands Airport.
Acres Engineering is proud to announce that we have recently become an approved supplier to Manchester Airport Group (MAG). To mark this milestone, we were delighted to welcome James Ayre (he/him), Asset Management Director at East Midlands Airport, to our site.
This visit was part of a special collaboration celebrating the completion of the East Midlands Airport Future Security Requirements (FSR) Project—a significant investment programme aimed at enhancing passenger experience, improving throughput, and modernising security infrastructure in line with the UK’s next-generation security standards. The FSR initiative has seen EMA upgrade its security lanes, introduce advanced scanning technology, and increase overall operational efficiency across the security hall.
As a symbolic and sustainable way to mark the end of this major project, James tasked Acres with creating something meaningful for the EMA team. Components from the original security conveyors—recently retired as part of the upgrade—have been repurposed into bespoke key rings, each crafted from genuine, historical equipment that played a role in EMA’s security operations for many years. Every employee involved in the FSR Project will receive one as a unique keepsake celebrating their contribution.
Our Project Lead Jack and Apprentice Jamai demonstrated the laser-cutting and fabrication process during James’s visit. With his engineering background, James thoroughly enjoyed seeing the materials transformed from decommissioned components into high-quality, custom key rings.
