Acres wishes Happy Retirement to Andy Gordge after nearly 21 years

2nd April 2026

Words by Luke Parker MD

We marked the occasion with an afternoon get-together for the team, joined by his wife and past colleagues — a fitting send-off for someone who has given so much to the business.

I’ve had the privilege of working with Andy since I was an apprentice — in my early days, from installs in Tunbridge Wells to fitting manhole covers on the side of the A38 on Christmas Eve. He’s always taken ownership, seen jobs through to the end, and set the standard for doing things properly.

Andy’s been part of Acres through everything — the highs, the challenges, and the changes — always with the same attitude: get on with it, no fuss, just deliver.

At one point, Andy was our only veteran, and he played a part in inspiring us to sign the Armed Forces Covenant — something that remains an important part of who we are as a business today.

He’s also helped shape the team and culture we’re proud of. That kind of loyalty and commitment is never taken for granted.

Andy — thank you for everything. Wishing you and Claudia a brilliant retirement, you’ve more than earned it. Don’t be a stranger — the kettle is always on if you’re passing.
