Around the World with Melbourne Carnival
Last weekend, Acres and Melbourne’s vibrant and tightly-knit community came together to celebrate the much-anticipated Melbourne Fete. The journey “Around the World” began its journey at Castle Square, with dozens of decorations and fabulous floats. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Davidson Homes and East Midlands Airport, the fete raised funds for various local projects, continuing their tradition of supporting organisations like Melbourne Care, Guides, and Scouts.
Earlier this year, Acres Engineering’s Luke Parker, reached out to the committee offering to manufacture and donate replicas of famous landmarks. The news was quickly snapped up and shared by East Midlands, Business Link, with the landmarks representing some of the world’s biggest names including the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the London Eye and Rio’s beloved Christ The Redeemer.
As a result, at Melbourne Junior School, Carnival guests could be seen smiling for selfies beside the steel structures. It was a delight to see how much enjoyment they brought to the festivities, considering the somewhat drowsy weather.
No fete is complete without music and refreshments and Melbourne Carnival didn’t disappoint! Local band, Everyone Knows Dave took centre stage, delivering an exceptional performance incorporating the iconic Mr. Brightside, whilst The Posh Off License had a selection of refreshing cocktails, including Sangria, Aperol Spritz, Rum Punch and Pimms.
All of us at Acres Engineering would like to say a massive thank you to the Melbourne Carnival Committee, who made this all possible. Who knows, maybe we’ll be seeing more of the committee in the future?
