BBC East Midlands & BBC Radio Derby visit for signings of the Armed Forces Covenant
A proud and memorable event for everyone at Acres Engineering, as we had the honour of hosting a special event at our Melbourne, Derbyshire site.
We were especially delighted to welcome Mercian Regiment mascot Private Derby XXXIV on his first official visit to Melbourne, alongside Brigadier Adam Fraser-Hitchen, as we marked the anniversary of the historic Battle of Badajoz — a moment of immense bravery and sacrifice that continues to inspire generations.
As part of the ceremony, we were proud to host the signing of the Armed Forces Covenant by Haley Nuclear, Clover IT Contracts, and Jeani Accessories, reinforcing their commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. A particularly poignant moment was the raising of a red jacket on our flagpole, commemorating the extraordinary actions of James Macpherson during the battle — a powerful symbol of courage and resilience.
As a company awarded the Armed Forces Covenant Gold Award in 2022, supporting the Armed Forces community is something we care deeply about. We also had the privilege of sharing this special occasion on BBC and Radio Derby. We’d like to thank everyone who attended and helped make the day so meaningful — it was a privilege to host such an important occasion.
