Armed Forces Day
Today, we celebrate as a Nation to honour the amazing work from past and present soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
We’ve recently appreciated our Armed Forces for responding to the outbreak of Covid-19. The Armed Forces were at the front line- distributing food, medical support including vaccination centers and help at emergency hospitals. It was struggle for many to leave behind the sense of purpose however, as we’re all aware, they did amazing work fighting off the spread of a growing pandemic.
The Royal British Legion (RBL) challenge injustice to those who have served. Their website holds information on how you can get involved with the charity to raise money or awareness through events for the Armed Forces.
During the celebration, many events are happening throughout the UK.
At the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, they’re holding a family-fun weekend with climbing walls and a WW2 assault course. They will be having a Service of Tribute to recognise the work by the Armed Forces, 2 military live bands plus, food and craft halls. Sponsored by Briggs Equipment, they will be providing activities such as forklift basketball and giant Jenga.
Loughborough will be saluting the Armed Forces with entertainment and attractions at Charnwood Borough Council. Contributions again by Charnwood veterans breakfast club who will be serving tea, coffee and cakes, local Army Reserve center staff, Royal British Legion bikers and the Land Rover Club. Also, featuring vintage vehicles and face painting.
To recognise the Armed Forces, employees from Acres visited St Michael and St Mary’s Church’s War Memorial located in Melbourne, Derbyshire. The visit was fantastic to commiserate with past servicemen who lost their lives during WW1.

Everyone at Acres want to say a huge thank you!
