Great news for the manufacturing industry, after just celebrating NMD23.

A recent survey involving 2,436 participants highlights that a significant majority of the general public consider manufacturing to be of immense importance to the future of the UK economy. Furthermore, over three-quarters of respondents view manufacturing as actively providing solutions for future challenges. The survey, titled “Perceptions vs Reality,” conducted by Savanta on behalf of Make UK and Sheffield Hallam University, also indicates a substantial positive shift in perceptions concerning aspects such as pay, working conditions, and career prospects.

When Make UK last conducted a survey of the British public five years ago, respondents often mentioned negative media coverage and a prevailing sense that Britain was no longer a significant manufacturing hub. However, the current sentiment is drastically different, with 93% of respondents now recognizing manufacturing as a crucial driver for the growth of the UK economy, as opposed to 70% five years ago.
