Siemens Mobility is conducting trials of the Mireo Plus H hydrogen train in Bavaria.

22nd September 2023

The two-car trainset is set to commence passenger service in mid-2024 on routes operated by Bayerische Regiobahn (BRB), connecting Augsburg to Füssen and Augsburg to Peissenberg. Subsequently, pilot operations of the train will span a duration of 30 months.

The Mireo Plus H features a dual roof-mounted fuel cell system and a lithium-ion battery, enabling emissions-free transportation. This combination of hydrogen energy supply and electric propulsion delivers a formidable 1.7 MW of traction power, allowing for rapid acceleration of up to 1.1 m/s² and reaching a top speed of 160 km/h.

This train boasts an operational range spanning from 1,000 to 1,200 kilometers on a single refueling, and it can be replenished in a mere 15 minutes.
