Acres Engineering opens their doors for National Manufacturing Day 2023
On National Manufacturing Day 2023, Acres Engineering welcomed three local Schools to participate in a range of STEM activities. The students were able to tour the facility and hear about the types of careers in engineering.
Our event was attended by The Pingle Academy, Ashby School, and Chellaston Academy, with students ranging from years 10 to 13. During their time on-site, every student was given the chance to assemble their own poppies for Remembrance Day. Additionally, the students participated in a timed problem-solving challenge, to build miniature versions of our Stronghold Trestles.
Students also had the unique opportunity to interact with the Army’s ASYET Team, gaining hands-on experience in programming robots, and engaging with the ACC Derby to explore engineering and other potential career pathways within the Armed Forces.
We are extremely grateful to HM Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Colonel John Wilson OBE DL, for his presence throughout this occasion.
Not only did our event feature a range of STEM tasks but, the students had a blast taking photographs with our “Future Engineer” selfie board.
Make UK’s Interim Regional Director, Chris Corkan made a statement for Business Desk East Midlands, applauding Acres Engineering for “throwing open their doors in support of National Manufacturing Day.”
We are hugely enthusiastic about inspiring the next generation of engineers and providing opportunities through events such as NMD.
