Acres Engineering attend National Air & Space Camp 2023
Representatives from Acres Engineering had the incredible privilege of participating in the National Air & Space Camp yesterday; hosted at RAF Syerston. Organised by the 2 Flying Training School, 800+ cadets had the opportunity to speak with more than 50 partners which included BAE Systems at the careers fair. Our mission: to create an unforgettable experience that would captivate the young minds’ imagination was successful with cadets engaging in our creative concepts.
Our interactive station became a hive of activity including a selfie board for the future’s Artemis crew. Amidst the event, cadets embraced the opportunity to step into the shoes of an engineer, to assemble and design their own rocket ships. To bring the spacecraft to life, the cadets needed to connect keychains, enabling them to zip-wire the rockets on string and enter their video into our competition. This experiment was more than just putting parts together; it was an exercise in imagination and problem-solving. Furthermore, attendees had the chance to sign their names to our pledge; solidifying their promise to drive technological advancement in the years to come. It’s inspirational to see young people stepping up, ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
The airshow that followed was nothing short of spectacular. Displays both on the ground and in the air, highlighted iconic aircraft like the Typhoon (which made the heart-pounding sound of a sonic boom and performed gravity-defying aerobatics), Spitfire, F35, and the brilliant Red Arrows.
As a dedicated supporter of the Armed Forces, we were thrilled to engage with cadets and create an unforgettable experience that showcased the wonders of STEM. Flying Officer and Project Manager for National Air & Space Camp, J Bertolaso quoted “A huge thank you for helping to make yesterday’s Industry Day so amazing! The feedback from the cadets has been nothing but exceptionally positive, with many of them telling us that the conversations they have had with you have really bolstered their understanding of the opportunities ahead of them. Thank you once again and see you next year!”
