Scope
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles use batteries that can be charged externally from the electric grid, unlike traditional hybrid vehicles that charge their batteries solely through the vehicle’s internal systems.
Acres automotive client needed the ability to remove batteries from the production line when an error or non conformance was identified. The ability to do so would reduce a significant amount of down time allowing the production line to get back up and running, delivering a huge cost saving to the client. Handling these batteries, especially for this purpose required specialised equipment, which is where Acres comes in….
Solution
The Acres PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) battery trolley has been designed and manufactured for handling, transporting, and swapping reject batteries during the manufacturing process. If a battery on the production line needs to be removed, then the PHEV trolley is used.
This purpose-built trolley designed to manage the substantial weight and connections of PHEV batteries, ensuring safe and efficient transport within the manufacturing facility.
This trolley can also be used post-manufacture, for activities such as maintenance and servicing etc.
